Interstellar Potato
Interstellar Potato
A generational starship simulator.
Reach for the stars. The destination is a new home for humanity, 50 light years away. In theory, you should be able to reach this in 1000 years, if you accelerate continuously for 500 years, reaching up to 10% of the speed of light, then reverse and decelerate for another 500 years.
The Potato is a generational starship: a hollowed out asteroid, in which up to 100.000 people live, work and have children, who's ancestors will some day, hopefully, step onto a new world.
How to play:
Use the mouse to press buttons and open menus.
Basically, you control power flow to three subsystems: the engine, the habitat and the deflector. You can run at most 2 out of 3 subsystems at full power, so it's a balancing act.
To win, you must approach the destination with distance of less than 0,01 light years and a speed less than 0,01% the speed of light. Also, you must reach it within 1000 years.
Use the in-game help for more information.
History:
Created for Trijam #321, themed "1000 years".
This is a post-jam update with some improvements and bug fixes, and the hard 1000 year time limit was added to make the game more challenging.
